FAQ

Of course! Our new system allows for you to edit the days your child walks.  As long as there are still spaces left we will be able to accommodate changes.

Can I make changes to the days my child walks?

Unfortunately not.  The buses have a strict timetable which is adhered to in order to allow for arrival at the school playground five minutes before the bell goes at 9am.  When signing up to the walking bus you will be added to a Whatsapp group, just send us a message and hopefully you are able to catch up and meet us at the next stop.

Does the bus wait for us if we are running late?

We try to run the bus in all weather conditions.  We had a couple of cancellations in the last school term due to severe rain and wind but on the whole we try to wrap up warm and just keep walking!  If it is cancelled we use the Whatsapp group to notify everyone.

No, we provide a high viz vest and lanyard.  All they need to do is carry their own bag and be dressed appropriately for the weather.  The Abbottshall group walk through the forest path parallel to Hillview Crescent which can be muddy so wellies or heavy boots are advised on rainy days.

Does my child need to bring anything?

No, it is not mandatory for parents/carers to volunteer for the walking bus, although it would be great if you could!  We have set up a new volunteer sign up system which will allow for more flexibility in choosing one off days rather than having to commit to every Monday for example.
