Your walking bus needs you!

With the better Spring weather (hopefully) approaching the parent/carer led walking bus is looking for more volunteers to  expand the number of routes and places available to pupils. 

 

You may have seen the Abbotshall group walking to school with a team of parent helpers.  It is a great way for pupils to start the day, while getting some exercise and chatting with friends. It can also help reduce the volume of traffic around the school at drop off time. 

 

There are currently 4 routes risk assessed, Abbotshall, Lower Bieldside, Upper Bieldside and Hillview Park & Stride, and you can look at all the route maps on the website. It would be great to get them all up and running during March, but we need your help!  Even volunteering one morning a week would make a big difference.

Information Evening - Monday 12th September

​

Following on from the successful taster sessions in June, the Cults Primary Walking Bus is looking for more volunteers in order to start running at the end of September.  

 

There will be an information evening on Monday 12th September, 7.30pm - 9.30pm at Cults Primary School.  The first half of the night will be an introduction to the walking bus, and the second half will be specifically about volunteering and  some training.

Lovely to be back!

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Hillview and Abbotshall taster sessions. It was lovely to see groups of children walking into the playground with their hi-viz jackets on.  We hope to get fully back up and running, on all our routes, as quickly as possible after the new term starts in August.  We are also looking for new volunteers and will be running training sessions in the new term.  To sign up please email us at cultsprimarywalkingbus@gmail.com

First taster session up and running!

The Abbotshall route restarted today with a number of new children taking part in our first taster session.  We have a number of taster sessions running over the next two weeks on the Abbotshall and Hillview routes.  

 

Abbotshall Route - Tuesday 14th, Friday 17th, Tuesday 21st and Friday 24th June.

Hillview park & stride - Wednesday 15th, Friday 17th, Monday 20th and Friday 24th June.

Walking Bus Return

The Cults Primary Walking Bus is in the process of starting up the various walking groups.  Look out for more information in the coming weeks!

Walking Bus update

Now that children are back at school, the Cults Primary Walking Bus team are looking at how we can safely restart our walking groups.  Over the coming weeks we will be working on new risk assessments to ensure that we comply with Government's Covid guidance in order to safely return.

Cults Primary Walking Bus receive funding from the Health Improvement fund

The Walking Bus was thrilled to receive £778.50 from Aberdeen City Council's Health Improvement fund.  The funding was awarded to the bus project in order to help fund additional promotional materials, better signage on the bus route, incentives to encourage pupil participation and first aid training for our  volunteers.

Cults Primary School Walking Bus was delighted to win an award at Aberdeen City Council's 2019 Eco-awards in the Sustainable travel category!

Welcome back for the new term!

​

The walking bus team is raring to go and looking forward to the new school term starting on Wednesday 22nd August.  The Buses will commence running on Monday 26th August and we are looking forward to seeing returning pupils and meeting new ones .  We are currently in the process of putting together the first term's rota (up until October Holidays) so please make sure we have your child's walking schedule and any days you can volunteer for, by using our sign up on our home page.
